A Case for creating this Seminar Series

During her time in office, former Mayor Nancy Clutts found few resources designed to support her with the challenges she faced on a daily basis. Those on-going challenges kept her and the community from moving forward.

Sure there were numerous forums where academic information was provided, best practices were shared and networking was available, but no such venue existed to support her with the depth of resources for enrolling her community, engaging angered residents, or effectively communicating with staff. Simply put, few days passed without breakdowns and few, if any resources existed to learn how to turn breakdowns into breakthroughs. This forum is designed to support Mayors expediting growth through a safe, fast paced environment.

Mayor Clutts did learn on the job and turned her community around creating a climate of collaboration and supported a variety of citizen and business stakeholders to reach consensus around their community-wide vision and long term implementation. Today, the City of Tavares is known as America’s Seaplane City and is attractive to a variety of businesses benefiting from Tavares’ economic development and business plans.
